White short-nosed Weevil, Brazil.
Weevils are one of the mega-diverse families of insects with over 60,000 described species. Undoubtedly there are many more awaiting discovery, particularly from tropical forests. This species of short-nosed weevil is endowed with a complex covering of hairs and scales. Backlighting further highlights a fringe of specialised yellow hairs at the end of the legs, probably to help the insect grip smooth surfaces.
